Heritage Middle School in Berwyn believe that everyone get the right education and can learn.

a local teacher explained
"There was one girl that was a immigrant from Korea and couldn't speak a word of English. But she graduated and went to high school" .

This shows that everyone has a chance to learn.

Heritage doesn't only help immigrants inside of school but outside as well. Heritages local principle acknowledged,

"So what we do is networked community and family come to us seeking service we can provide resources that the community can help out whether it's for legal assistant or housing or necessary supplies".
Here is what the local assistant principal said

"We give a list of agencies to help provide the families with contacts"

When it comes of being inside the school immigrants if they don't speak English there a provide with more help or have a class named " English Language Support " or ELS.

This program supports the English learns to communicate with other students and not just sit in a class not understand what there teacher is teaching them.

" If kids come to us as immigrants we are by law to come in as long as they live in the community of Berwyn South, we accept them into our school and work with them like if there any student." .

The school show many optimistic and grateful things that it has to offer.

The principal and local teachers describe Heritage as a safe places for all types of people to come and become a students. Teachers don't categorize immigrants and nonimmigrants in different class rooms.

They believe that students are the same no matter there culture or religion. That concludes  Heritage is a welcoming and excepting school.


Heritage Announcement 
  Last year, 2014, there was an announcement at Heritage Middle School about there new testing policy. Remember when you had the ISATS, well the state of Illinois thought it would be challenging for students learning skills to get higher with the new type of ISATS named PARCC. Many students were excited and anxious. The students official take the test on March, it last for about a 1-2 weeks.
      When the day comes students start to freak out and have many different opinions.
" I bet it's better then the ISATs " " Nah the ISATS go by fast" All you hear in the halls is if it's a good test or if it's going to be worst then there usual test. Students take the test and takes about 1-1:13 hours. The teacher gives them plenty of time to finish there test. The teacher expiect most students to take there time but half of the rush to get it over with.
      When the test is over students have to have a book out to read, it the rules. When times up the students are demand to return there test and go to there next class. Lots of student judged the test. " that's was super boring it was so slow" " then ISATS are better I don't like the PARCC test"
Many students said. Do you think this is a better way to test?

My Change

      "What if we got a dog" my mom told us when I was about 11.
At the time it was around winter and it was a sticky and very cold. The snow piled around the neighborhood it was terrible. Of course I don't want a dog I felt lonely at times but I still didn't want a dog it felt like to much responsibility for me.
       On  July 26  it was a very hot, I just finished taking a steamy shower and my sister Rachell was eating. My grandma and grandpa were staying for a month and my grandmother was cooking while watching television and my grandfather was eating as well. During the beginning of the afternoon my mom called the house phone and all you hear is my sister running towards the phone and answered it. I waited impatiently for what she was going to say. At first I thought she was going to tell Rachell to pass the phone to my grandma, but all I heard was yelling throw the phone. I thought Rachell was in trouble. Rachell yelled at me to hurry up that my mom was outside with a surprise. My heart was beating  when we opened the door and walked down the stairs. The hot air hit my face making me feel more nervous.
      Rachell and I walk down the stairs we went towards me moms car and opened the car door and saw the world's ugliest dog ever. He had super long dark coal hair with light brown spots and a marshmallow face. He smelled like a skunk and looked from the streets.
"Like our new pet?'' of course I didn't I wanted a dog but.
 I only wanted a pug, instead we got a really ugly Yorke. My sister was the happiest human beings ever. My mom told us his name was Oavalo, I thought  again ugly name. I alway wanted a pet name Charlie, I don't know why but I love that name. Anyways my mom told us the story of "Oavalo" like how and where she got him. My moms boyfriend found out his neighbors had six dogs in her small basement. He told us that everyday he would hear whiny and barking. The neighbors would hit them and abused them and not feed them often.


     After my mom telling us the story I was touched and now I had a little place in my heart for him. I felt a little complete with him by my side but I didn't know if I wanted him in my life. In the way to the pet store my mom changed her mind about his name.
My mom said " how about Toby" it's a better than Oavalo.
      When we got home the first thing we did to Toby was take him a shower. When we took him a bath the water was super black it like crayon black it was horrible and it stinks all over the bathroom. When we were done he was light brown little black spots and a very pale white face, he looked different and in actually wanted him and I felt love.
      When the days passed he was less nervous everyday. I learned to be more responsible and careful with other things. I also learned to have a change that change is a good thing and not bad. Toby is now super energetic and lovably dog and likes to play catch. He is the best dog and brother in the world. I couldn't ask for a better brother.
